Acupuncture Therapy
Acupuncture is a complex branch of ancient Chinese medicine, but its practical principles and methods are easily understood:
  1. Fourteen major energy channels called meridians course through the human body including the head, arms, hands, legs, feet, torso, and internal organs.
  2. A subtle energy called Chi (pronounced chee) circulates via the meridians to all parts of the body, even the most remote cells.
  3. Chi is the vital force, the presence of which separates the living from the dead. Its balanced, unimpeded flow is critical to sound health.
  4. Any misdirection, blockage, or other derangement of the amount, flow, or balance of Chi may result in pain, dysfunction, and ill health.
  5. With acupuncture needles, or other means, the acupuncturist stimulates certain points (acupoints) along the course of the meridians. Such stimulation helps restore the normal balance and flow of Chi so organs and bodily systems can work together in harmony as intended. This sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.

The main objectives of Acupuncture treatment are:

  • To relieve pain and other symptoms
  • To strengthen the immune system
  • To balance, harmonize and integrate functions of the organs making for a unified, healthy person.

The acupuncture diagnosis may involve:

  • Pulse diagnosis: evaluates imbalances of Chi and what organs are involved
  • Observation of the Patient: color and condition of the tongue, texture and condition of the skin, the hair and the strength or weakness of the voice.
  • Patient Interview: history of illnesses, patient's feelings, emotional lifestyle, diet.
  • Physical examination: exploration of tender acupoints that might reveal specific problems.

We offer some special applications of Acupuncture, such as:

  • Oriental Physical Therapy
  • Japanese Treatment
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Moxibustion
  • Auricular Therapy
  • Cosmetic Face Lift

Acupressure Therapy
Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the gentle but firm pressure of the hands. There is a massive amount of scientific data that demonstrates why and how acupuncture is effective. But acupressure, the older of the two traditions, was neglected after the Chinese developed more technological methods for stimulating points with needles and electricity. Acupressure, however, continues to be an effective method for self-treatment of tension-related ailments by using the power and sensitivity of the human hand.

Chinese Herbs Therapy
When your situation requires it, we might suggest the use of Chinese Herbs.  In Chinese herbology, herbs are categorized by their energies, tastes, directions and actions on the body (moving the blood, getting rid of dampness or heat, breaking up stagnation, building substance or energy, etc.).  Best Acupuncture & Herb Center offers Golden Flower Chinese Herbs in their many formulations.

Reiki Therapy
Reiki (ray-key) is a natural healing technique that feels like a flow of a high frequency of energy into and through a practitioner, and out the hands into another person. A standard Reiki treatment includes placing the hands above, or on, the head, shoulders, stomach and feet. In addition, other positions may be used for specific conditions the client may have. A treatment creates a wonderful radiance that is deeply relaxing and includes many beneficial affects for both client and practitioner.  A Reiki session always seems to impress those who say they find it difficult to relax. In oriental cultures, healing disciplines like Reiki may be applied to healthy people as a preventative method. However, Reiki may also be used to assist you in returning to a state of health. Reiki is both powerful and gentle.

Five thousand years of safe, effective healthcare

"I think if we are to feel at home in the world... we shall have to admit Asia to equality in our thoughts, not only politically but culturally.  What changes this will bring about I do not know, but I am convinced that they will be profound and of the greatest importance."

- Bertrand Russell. History of Western Philosophy (1946)
