Colds and Flu
Were you at the office and started to feel tired, with a runny nose? Or perhaps you started to have a slight fever and congestion? Colds and flu are common and most of us have probably caught colds and had the flu.
It’s a frustrating and often seemingly unavoidable inconvenience. Symptoms of a cold or flu can includer runny nose, sore throat, cough and congestion, headache and muscle and body aches. The flu can also leave us with additional symptoms, such as diarrhea, vomiting and fatigue.
Colds and flu can be caused by viruses and germs, but also by environmental factors, stress and burn out and if your immune system is already compromised, you may be more susceptible to developing colds and flu. In Chinese medicine terms, a cold or flu can develop when the protective layer of the body has been compromised. When this happens, pathogens can enter and cause the symptoms of colds and flu.
Acupuncture provides a safe, pain free and effective way to treat colds and flu without the use of over-the-counter or prescription medications that can potentially have side effects. Acupuncture works by restoring balance back to your body. If your body is under performing in one way but over performing in another, acupuncture will work to address that imbalance, restoring your body back to its original and balanced state while also making your body stronger and more robust.
